The scent of roasted coffee rushing into your senses, the tantalising baked goods calling to you from the glass display, soft chatters of friends bonding over a cuppa – oh, we’re dreaming of the good ol’ days!
While that is a distant reality for now, we are glad Malaysians are working so hard together by staying home in our fight against COVID-19.
And with a relaxed CMCO, we are beginning to slowly inch towards a new normal. Cafés are beginning to reopen with safety measures in place and businesses are slowly resuming operations.
When MCO was first announced, we began sharing about cafes with takeaways and deliveries available on our Stories and placing them in a Highlight to help our followers discover these places.
We realised a lot F&B outlets are also appealing to the public to support local businesses as the MCO has impacted their income.
We wanted to be helpful by sharing these information as we ourselves were looking for food near us which were available for deliveries. Not all of us are Nigella Lawson in the kitchen.
What began as a small initiative grew into a new idea. We knew it was not very efficient to keep tapping on Instagram to find a cafe near you which is open for takeaway/delivery. Also, it wasn’t immediately apparent where some of the cafes are located so we thought, “wouldn’t it be great if we can filter by location and food items?”
And so, we present to you, cafeculture.my!
Although the MCO is now CMCO (it took us a while to get everything set up), we hope this site will help to serve both our followers and the cafes through this pandemic and beyond.
This cafe directory will be free for both businesses and consumers and you can search for cafes by location, type of cuisine, and other filters such as ‘halal’, ‘vegetarian’, and more.
We would love to hear from you if you have any feedback or questions or if you just want to say hi!
